Writing
once you begin to build worlds in your head, writing them down is the only way to still yourself.
I have always loved to write. I graduated with a BA with Honors in Creative Writing and English Literature from Georgia State University before returning for my BA in Game Design. Alongside worldbuilding and character creation, I also write short stories and scripts. Included below are excerpts from stories and scripts that I have written in support of and in reference to the game that I’m developing, given the working title Escape From Infrento.
I am also interested in the research being done in the Gaming Industry. I believe as game designers we have a responsibility to be aware of the games that we make and the influence they have on those that play them. “Women have considerable influence in the industry, and we must use it. Bearing in mind that stereotypes of female characters in games have real world influence, and acknowledging that we, as game designers, have an ethical responsibility to use our platform to better the world through the entertainment that we create, we must recognize the power that we wield, and choose to use it for good.”
Here is a link to one of my academic research papers entitled, “Sexy, Stagnant, or Chimera: The Representation of Women and Diversity in AAA vs. Independent Gaming Studios” (from which the above quote is taken).
